Jeff's Take

Why I Love Showing Condos in Ballard

Ballard is the neighborhood I show buyers who want authentic Seattle without the density of downtown. You get the Locks, Golden Gardens, Sunset Hill sunsets, and Market Street all within a walking neighborhood. And the community here is distinctly its own. It still carries the DNA of its Scandinavian fishing-village roots, even as the new wave of restaurants and breweries has arrived.

The condo inventory skews newer than Capitol Hill or Queen Anne: most buildings are 2005+, many feature modern amenities and structured HOAs. That's great for buyers who want a contemporary unit without fighting the maintenance risks of older mid-rise buildings. It also means resale performance trends more predictable than the character-heavy neighborhoods.

For clients relocating with kids or pets, I nearly always start the tour in Ballard. The combination of outdoor access (Golden Gardens, Burke-Gilman Trail, Ballard Commons), walkable Market Street, and strong school options is hard to beat at the price point per square foot.
